How did the two of you meet? We met at a dodgeball game in LA. Jared was on the team, and I was just going in as a sub that night, since a mutual friend of ours invited me.

What happened the day he proposed? How did he do it? We had recently moved to DC from LA (where my family is), and we were visiting my parents. After spending time with my mom that day, while he was studying..I came home, and we were in my old bedroom, just talking. I was about to go start cooking dinner with my mom, and he popped the question–in my bedroom, just the 2 of us.

What were the main influences behind the style of your wedding, it’s location and your venue choice for your big day? We wanted a fall wedding, and Jared’s family lives in upstate NY–so we thought it’d be perfect to have an outdoors/indoors wedding, in an old barn. We found The Hayloft, and immediately knew it was the perfect space. I’m form Montreal, so my family took a quick roadtrip down. It was perfect.

How did you approach wedding planning? did you use any computer systems, apps or social media? We pretty much did everything ourselves. Quick google searches for the RSVP portion, which then resulted in us using RSVPify. Other than that, we did it all ourselves.

What made you decide to hire a videographer? I have family in Vietnam (one of my grandmothers), who couldn’t make our wedding. So my mom really wanted us to hire a videographer so that we could send them some footage of the day.

Did you have any surprises for each other, or for your guests on your wedding day? Other than the late start/flooded room….not really. 😛

What would your top tips be for somebody planning their wedding? Everyone told us this, but
really try to enjoy every second. It flew by SO fast…try to talk to everyone (especially people who are visiting from far away), because you’ll be sad you missed them.

What were your favorite parts of your wedding day (or perhaps most memorable)? The flood was the most memorable. Favorite parts included seeing how happy our parents were. My mom danced with Jared’s stepfather–and it was my first time ever seeing her dance! Line dancing with our friends was amazing. The farewell with the sparklers too!

Any advice for brides currently in the planning process? Everything will turn out exactly the way it’s supposed to, and it will be beautiful. Don’t worry about the tiny details.
