Meghan & Robby at The Otesaga
We met at our apartment pool in Georgia. I had been studying for an exam when I noticed Robby walk in. After a little while of being there, he eventually came over to me and asked if he could sit next to me because there were bugs where he was sitting. I said yes and that’s where it all began!
Robby had asked me to take off a day from work on the Thursday before Christmas this past year because we were going on a surprise adventure. We used to live near Savannah, Georgia so I figured we would just go spend the night there since we were flying out of the Savannah airport on Friday. On the way to our surprise we passed Savannah and a couple of hours later we ended up in Charleston, one of my all time favorite places! We got there and headed to get ice cream from the Godiva store (seriously so good) and then we went shopping! It was such a perfect day already! Robby then told me that he hadn’t one more surprise so we got back in husband truck and we drove to the Isle of Palms, right outside Charleston. We arrived at the Wild Dunes Resort, we had went their for our first Valentine’s Day. We checked in and Robby’s noticed the sun was setting and asked if I wanted to watch the sunset on the beach. While there he told me to turn around because he wanted to draw me a picture. When I turned around he was down on one knee and he had written “Marry Me” in the sand.
Since I was little my family and I have always spent endless hours in Cooperstown and I loved the picturesque beauty of the Otesaga so I’ve known for almost forever that I wanted to get married there. We really wanted our wedding to express our love for each other so we gravitated towards really enchanting and romantic decor.
I tried to tackle all the big things first and then I used Pinterest a lot to research decor and the little details.
I’ve always wanted a videographer so hiring Gavin was the second thing we did after booking the Otesaga. I love watching wedding videos online so having the opportunity to get to rewatch our love story over and over was a no brainer for us!
We surprised our guests with the slow motion video booth and they had a blast! I also, surprised Robby with a Bryant- Denny Stadium Groom’s Cake, which they rolled out to Sweet Home Alabama.
Ask for help!!! Planning a wedding is stressful so don’t be afraid to ask to ask your parents, bridesmaids, family and friends for help! Also, if something is important to you make sure you get it/ include it at the wedding! It’s your day so it’s okay to splurge on the must haves!
Robby- Getting Married!
Meghan- Walking down the aisle and seeing Robby and then being pronounced husband and wife!
Be organized! I had an Excel sheet for everything! Staying organized definitely helped everything go almost as perfectly as possible.
