How did the two of you meet?
We went to the same high school. Our first time meeting was at a mutual friends birthday party, where Mike introduced himself. A few weeks later, I attended Mike’s championship baseball game. After he won the game, I asked a friend for his number and send him a congratulatory text. We started talking every day after that and had our first date a few short weeks later – the rest is history!
What happened the day he proposed? How did he do it?
We had plans to go out of town the day after my birthday to go see a Thomas Rhett concert. (He is my favorite country singer.) We drove down early to check in to our hotel and get ready for the concert. When we got to the room, there was a bouquet of flowers sitting on the table. I didn’t think anything of it at first, assuming it was a birthday gift. When I started to read the card that came with the flowers, I got a feeling this was something much more. I turned around and Mike began to get down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
What were the main influences behind the style of your wedding, it’s location and your venue choice for your big day?
We were looking for beautiful outdoor scenery and we found that with Cornerstone. We knew we wanted to have our reception indoors and I had my eyes set on The McKinley from the very beginning. I would say “Romantic” is the overall style that I tried to capture with all of the decor.
How did you approach wedding planning? did you use any computer systems, apps or social media?
I relied a lot on my family. My mom was a HUGE help. I also signed up for a profile with The Knot, that was very helpful with keeping to a timeline.
What made you decide to hire a videographer?
We wanted to have the opportunity to relive all of the special moments with more than just photos. The day goes by so fast, it’s hard to remember every detail. Being able to hear our vows exchanged and watch our first dances again will be so special. This was one of the best days of our lives, I couldn’t imagine not being able to watch it over and over again.
Did you have any surprises for each other, or for your guests on your wedding day?
We each bought each other a gift and card to open the morning of our wedding.
What would your top tips be for somebody planning their wedding?
It’s never too early to start planning. You will thank yourself in the end for getting it done a head of time. Lean on others for help. We could NOT have done this without our family.
What were your favorite parts of your wedding day (or perhaps most memorable)?
Groom- My favorite part was watching Meghan walk down the aisle. Other memorable moments was dancing with all of our friends and family. The morning getting ready at Meghan’s dad’s house with all my groomsman and our dad’s was awesome. We had so much fun.
Bride – Walking down the aisle was one of the most memorable moments in my life. I felt so much joy and excitement finally seeing Mike and being able to look in his eyes. It’s truly hard to explain, but I will never forget that feeling. I would say my next favorite moment was walking into our reception. Mike and I went up to the balcony and looked down and I couldn’t believe it was real life. Another memorable part of our day was the amount of love and joy coming from all of our friends and family. I felt so honored that everyone was there to support us.
