How did the two of you meet?
We met on a college class trip to London. We both did not know the other was attending the trip and spent two weeks exploring the sights of England.

What happened the day he proposed? How did he do it?
Frank proposed at a cabin we were renting for the long Martin Luther King Jr. weekend in Lempster New Hampshire. It was quiet and secluded, just the way we like it. It was just us two and our one dog at the time, Bailey, and Frank got down on one knee out of the blue.

What were the main influences behind the style of your wedding, it’s location and your venue choice for your big day?
The main influence for us choosing Clayton New York and The 1000 Islands Harbor Hotel was Frank’s family connection to the 1000 Islands. The Sapere’s have a cottage right on the St. Lawrence River that we have spent many weekends over the past 6 years at. I remember seeing the hotel be built a few years ago and thinking to myself, that is a place I want to get married at. In regards to the style of our wedding, we wanted simple and country like with a twist of nautical. Our love of the outdoors, horses, fishing, and the water could be seen in the smallest details on our big day.

How did you approach wedding planning? did you use any computer systems, apps or social media?
We approached wedding planning with our minds open to new ideas. Our families helped us greatly as did many nights on Pinterest and Instagram.

What made you decide to hire a videographer?
One of my favorite things to do, even before I got engaged, was to watch other people’s wedding videos. Some made me cry, some made me laugh, but all of them made me want my own video of the biggest day of my life someday. I knew I wanted moments documented that day that a still photograph just could not capture. A wedding day comes and goes but when you are living daily life, what a treasure to be able to go back and watch such wonderful memories.

What would your top tips be for somebody planning their wedding?
Run things by each other! This should not be a one person job! Also, enjoy this time! Everyone told us how fast this time in your life goes and we didn’t really believe it until it was all done! From meeting with florists, having a hair and makeup trial, to engagement photos and church preparation, the people we met on this journey and the memories made, made the actual wedding day that much more special.

What were your favorite parts of your wedding day (or perhaps most memorable)?
The time with our bridesmaids and groomsmen as we each got ready, sitting on the altar overlooking our guests, our boat ride to our reception, standing back and watching our guests sing and dance along with the band, the looks on our parents faces throughout the day.

Any advice for brides currently in the planning process?
Enjoy this time! Know that everyone involved just wants you to have the best day of your life so be open to their ideas while still staying true to your own. Yes, your wedding day is one day, but it is the start of a beautiful life together and you deserve the day you have been dreaming about!
