How did the two of you meet?

John and I went to high school together! Through mutual friends and while sharing the same classes, our relationship began to grow.

What happened the day he proposed? How did he do it?

John proposed on December 17th 2014. I had just moved home from St. Kitts. When we were both living in NY we would spend a lot of time up north, hiking, exploring Raquette lake and pigging out at Tony Harpers! This day nothing was unusual. We drove up to Old Forge, enjoyed pizza at Tony Harpers and went to the park in Inlet. While walking through the park John disappeared, and when I turned around he was down on one knee! Best moment of my life! When we got home later that night, both of our families we at my parents house waiting to celebrate!

What were the main influences behind the style of your wedding, it’s location and your venue choice for your big day?

We wanted to keep our theme simple, soft and elegant. We had all of these crazy ideas for venues, but when we really sat down and were realistic- both of our families are from Rome/ Central NY, as well as the majority of our friends. It made sense to have our venue at The Beeches, where it was convenient for our guests and in the heart of our hometown.

How did you approach wedding planning? did you use any computer systems, apps or social media?

After we got engaged, John went back to St. Kitts to finish 4 more months of Veterinary School. After the 4 months were complete, we both traveled to Minnesota where we lived for 1 year, so John could finish his clinical year. I knew I wanted to get the “big” things out of the way before I left the state! I made lists and checked things off accordingly. I set my own deadlines for when I wanted things to be completed and to help stay organized. I knew I had a lot of time, but I also had my mind made up so that really helped! I used The Knot for a countdown, and Excel for my wedding guests!

What made you decide to hire a videographer?

Honestly, you were the first vendor I booked! I knew even before I was engaged that I would want your talent to document our day. The idea of a videographer allows you to relive moments from your day. I loved that you were there from start to finish. This is something that we will cherish forever.

What would your top tips be for somebody planning their wedding?

Relax and have fun! Don’t stress about the little things. Everything will fall into place.

What were your favorite parts of your wedding day (or perhaps most memorable)?

The entire day was incredible. I still cant stop smiling when I think about it. We are truly lucky to have such an amazing group of people that are a part of our lives. It was so special to see how many people care about us and were willing to travel from afar to celebrate our day.

Any advice for brides currently in the planning process?

Have fun and take it all in. Enjoy every moment of planning- even if you have two years to plan, it will fly by!!
